I hope that I can get out and try to do better than the last tournament. I am trying to get out of a slump.
is the Northern Neck Anglers Club's Rock-A-Thon Tournament. The dates are Sat. May 23 and Sun. May 24. The tournament is sponsored by R.W's Sport Shop which is located on Route US 360 just east of the town of Callao, VA. R.W's has been the sponsor of this tournament since the very beginning and the Club thanks owner Ricky Thomas for his generous support of this event. At R.W's you can find any kind of tackle or equipment that you might need to fish this tournament.
The target species for the Rock-A-Thon are Rockfish and Croaker. There will be both 1st and 2nd place awards for each species thanks to R.W's Sport Shop. Both species should be plentiful at that time of the season. The trophy Rockfish should be mostly gone from the Bay by that time, but you could pick up a straggler if you try for them. Fishing for the schoolie Rockfish is a lot of fun by chumming, live lining or jigging. Croaker should be all over the Bay and rivers so pick a spot and sock it to 'em.
A new rule this year allows members to deliver their catch to the authorized weigh in marinas by water or land. The marinas are Lewisetta, Smith Point, Ingram Bay, Chesapeake Boat Basin, Norview, B.E.S.T. Marine and Morning Star. Also new this year is the 'Best of Species' contest for the best entries by weight of Rockfish, Bluefish, Croaker, Spanish mackerel, Flounder and Spot. Tournament winners will be entered in the Best of Species contest. The Virginia Saltwater Trophy Fish Citation catches can also be entered in the Best of Species contest.

Good luck!
Last year Joey and I scratched out one last big girl for the Rock-a-thon. Hope we can do it again this year. Anything will be better then what we did for the last tourny.
I think the biggun's are running late and we'll be surprised at the weights! I'll bet the Rock winner with be a 40"+ class fish. We'll see.
Scott, you're probably right. Best thing to do is try for them. Don't forget to catch a Croaker too.
