If I were gonna Texas rig it, I'd use a regular 4 or 5/O EWG worm hook and Tex-spose, or skin-hook it. Or maybe a weighted bait jerker EWG hook.
Maybe try nose hooking it too.
Fish the James River Bridge this morning. Four Flounder in three hours 8 am to 10: 45 AM. 2@ 12", 1 @ 16", 1 @ 18". All on Berkley 4" Gulp Minnows. No lost fish or bites. The funny story in this is the 18" never had the hook set, it just would not let go of the Glup. The point of the hook was still buried in the bait when it was landed without a net.
Which brings up another subject how is everyone rigging the Gulps. I use a 4/0 Gama (whatever can't spell) offset worm hook texas rigged weedless. I don't feel this bait rigs easily. The gulps seem tough and the hook does not thread well. The hook point does not set in the top of the bait as well as I would like. Any opinions?

1/2 oz white jig head with exposed hook works for me
Depending on the current, I use 1/2oz to 2oz jigheads for my flounder fishing with gulps. Stiff graphite rod and braided line (10 lb test in my case) are essential in my opinion for optimal feel and depth. Outside of occasionally using live bait around structure, jigging with gulps is the only way I flounder fish and Ive been very successful over the past few years.
Can I get a visual demonstration sometime of that Matt (lol)?
Remember me ?
How the hell are you? Home from school?
