Minnow bucket in stream. Aerated tank, with water circulation-like fish aquarium, maybe.
Looking for suggestions on how to keep eels alive for extended periods. Any tips or tricks?
Minnow bucket in stream. Aerated tank, with water circulation-like fish aquarium, maybe.
Kept 'em for hours, bordering on days, in iced water and aerate consistently. When ice melts have kept aeration going and had them slimy nasty critters last a week, flushed with fresh water at least twice a day. I know they're great striper bait but they're still some nasty, slimy, slithery, evil little critters. [grin]
I START TO CATCH THEM THIS TIME OF YEAR TO USE THEM IN NOV. AND DEC. ALL I DO IS PUT THEM IN A LARGE MINNOW TRAP WITH THE HOLES CLOSED. I HAVE A FRESH WATER POND ON MY PROPERTY AND I JUST KEEP THEM IN THERE FOR EASY ACCESS. JUST BUST A CRAB UP EVERY ONCE IN AWHILE AND FEED THEM. I WAS SURPRISED THAT I HAVE HAD SUCH GOOD SUCCESS IN FRESH WATER BUT THEY CAN LIVE IN BOTH.
