Anyone have family or friends who used the VA for burial benefits? I'm planning for my future, or is that unfuture? Is this something that has to be arranged before you kick the bucket, or once you have? The military pay I received in the 60's was squat, so I figure I might as well get something out of the govt now. Do they pay all funeral expenses within reason and provide a grave and the burial itself? Or it it just the plot? If anyone has dealth with this before and would like to share the info by PM, please do so. Thanks, Ron

Ron,
Call your local VA office. There is a lot that it depends on. I dont think they pay everything, I think it is an amount towards burial, for some reason $3500 sticks in my mind but I could be way off. I have looked at it but can't remember at this point
Good luck
Mark
if you were in the military & honorbly discharged than you can be buried as well as your spouse in any military cemetary. only Arlington you would either have to die in service, or retire in service to be buried there!!!
still check VA
There is information there about all the veteran's cemeteries in VA. There is also a link where you can pre-apply. All you need is a copy of your DD-214 and fill in the form and it can be used for your spouse if you have one.
I preapplied though I'm not planning on taking advantage of it for awhile
I thought that would be all the less paperwork that has to be completed when I cool to ambient.
