Default eels & fresh or frozen menhaden

anyone know who has these for sale off the boats or at a dock, and how much or got some phone numbers and names to call? i've called just about all the bait and tackle shops getting prices, im trying to find someone to get eels from through out the cobia season and need some menhaden to grind up aswell, i know about 5 or 6 other people that would buy from the same person if they have enough..
    Thanks,

Try Greg's Bait Shack in Portsmouth. I don't know for sure what he as this year, but last year he had it all.

Default A word to the wise...

A lot of bait shops and suppliers run out of bait. It happens all the time. So it is wise to be prepared. I keep phone numbers on speed dial on my cell and I'm willing to share. As far as eels and bunker go here is my list.

Pop's Bait (Hampton) 329-4097 He's got everything including BIG eels
Amory's (Hampton) 722-1915 Best deal on 50 lbs of bunker
    Wallaces (Hampton) 851-5451 Everything
Wilcox ((Newport News) 595-5537 Eels & fresh bunker
Grafton Fishing Supply (Yorktown) 890-2100 Everything
    Ocean East 2 464-6544 Everything
Poquoson Fishing Center 868-1227 Live Bait
Greg's Bait Shop (Portsmouth) 465-9020 Everything including fresh bunker

thanks for all the info. guys, ya i get all my stuff from Grafton fishing supply now, since hes right up the road from me, but the price of eels and 1gal. buckets of chum are a little high, i found a guy in poquoson that will sell eels for $1-$1.50 each, and i called amorys about a flat which isnt a bad price, i just like to grind my own if i have to spend that kinda money on a gal. bucket of chum, i would rather know that it is a fresh bucket and frozen well

Amory's is hard to beat for bulk bunker. They'll also sell you chowder clams, which I buy 100 at a time. Mom & Pop Bait shops have to charge the prices they do for live bait to stay in business. Most places charge about the same for an eel. I haven't seen anything ridiculous. I think OE2 has specials where you can buy a dozen for $20. Support your local bait shops. I catch a lot of my bait, I could catch it all if I wanted, but my time is limited and therefore for me there is a need for bait suppliers.

I don't think you can fish with too big eels IMHO. They are like spaghetti to a cobia.

I was wondering about the eel size. I think I can get some without having to pay 2 bucks each, but they are much bigger than what the bait shops sell.
