Default Fishing Report: Ocean City MD SAT 27th

Left Ocean City inlet at 5:00 am. Headed towards Hambone area but decided to continue to Baltimore since seas were calm. Trolled from 100-800 line and released small yellow, two albi's and pulled hook on two unknowns (all caught on spreader bar - bright colors). A big storm skirted the area (not a good time to be without radar as mine is being fixed) with lots of rain and lightning so trolled south towards Poorman. Lots of fog and seas got rough so decided to troll back in - towards dog. About 7 miles out, sun came out and seas calmed down. At Dog, marked lots of bait on bottom and ran into very large schools of bluefish. Called it a day at 3. Did not hear of much being caught in Baltimore except small yellowfins. Water temps were 65-68 degrees from Dog out.

Thanks for the report. I was wondering if there was any action in the Baltimore, as well as the Dog. I hope the fog you encountered was not as dense at that which suddenly appeared between Poormans and the Washington. When it hit, there were six boats within 1/2 mile of us that suddenly were lost in the sea clutter, and visability was less than 100 yds. Not a good situation even with working radar. Especially with 6-8 footers washing the hard-top. Anyway, it was a very scattered bite from the Baltimore to the Washington.

I think we had roughly the same fog you did but as we got closer to the dog, it went away. Depending on weather and conditions and temps next week, we are probably going to run down to lumpy bottom or washington on Friday. Hopefully we can find some larger yellows and maybe a bluefin. Anyone hear of bluefins being caught out of OC? Few hear and there from what I can tell - just not concentrated yet.

is this Dave? Last time i was down in OC there were reports of bluefin at the hambone. Good to see you got your boat ready for the season. I am hoping to make it back out friday but we are looking at making the run to Poormans. This is Chris Gaba.

Hey Chris - Good to hear from you. Be sure and give me a shout when you are out there "Sea Biscuit". I don't think it will be long before the bluefins are at the hambones. They may have been on the bottom Sat but they were not coming up to bite. We are going to probably head South Friday. What boat are you on? David

David, As long as weather holds and i get get another sole to come, i will run our new sea fox. ITs been great so far. 3 trips out to the hambone, fingers, and jackspot. Hooked up to a mako at the bone but lost him and a few blue sharks. mostly stuck with shark fishing with some light trolling when we got too bored. Thanks For the advise on the Radar. It is amazing. ran the hour trip to the bone in fog and never had a worry. Whats wrong with your radar? i know there had been BFT at the bone for a few weeks but they have been tough to pull up.
