Default 32 hour trip off OC

Left OC at noon on Tuesday went to the Parking Lot, Trolled for Mr. Blue fin until 5:30 NADA pull marked a lot of the big boys on the bottom you know what that means. Picked up and ran to the Washington Trolled west wall east walls finally found the love going up the west wall to the tip. Did this until dark with 2 30lb Yellows and 6 gaffers in the box and missed a hot white on a tease, bounced a naked bait off this head and he left. So at dark I ran to the deep in 375 Fathoms to a 1 ½ Degree temp break north of the 461 lumps just offshore of the Rock Pile. Lights went on and chum went in the water. Not a lot of squid and no bait fish then at 9:30 the 80W with a whole Skip Jack set a 400’ went off. After an hour the Sword fish goes to air and is jumping around like he is on fire and spits the Damn hook. Then at 2:00 we release a small Mako then we release one that was just legal hoping for a bigger one. At 4:00 the 50W goes off with a cut bait from a Skippy just drifting back. Half the spool is gone and you hear a BIG fish splashing the water and you can see him in the moon light far off. 45 minutes later and a 8’ mean ass Mako swims up to the boat looks at us and takes off again. Big fish, Small boat in the dark with just me and a man who has never been offshore before. SO need less to say I never saw that fish ever again. The damn thing bite through the braided Stainless cable .My fought I had the wrong tackle on that rod for a shark that big but it worked on the smaller ones. Lesson learnt the hard way. The sun starts to show so we get back on the troll and is working the temp break up and down the wall when a nice size Blue Marlin comes into the spread shows interest the leaves with out even hitting a bait. So we troll until 10:00 then run back to OC Pissed because of what might have been but happy to have seen 3 different Bills on one trip and have some nice fish to eat. I’m tired and im going to sleep for a week.

Awesome report. Sounds like a fun trip. That's exactly why I don't use cable on shark rigs. The big fish can chew through it.
