Awesome! Thanks for the report!
I'm going to try that tactic up around #8 this weekend!
My cousin and I fished around buoy 6 today outside the mouth of the corrotoman. We worked the drop off there pretty hard and wound up with 2 keepers. One just about 19 and the other 21. We used minnows with big pieces of squid...about 4 to 6 inches. Anywhere from 25 was to 40 feet was producing fish but most hits were in about 35. Good luck.

where are yall getting minnows from ? catching them or buying them ?
I use a minnow trap in about two feet of water close to the shore. Put a piece of small piece of squid or spot in there and it will fill up real quick.
I'm gettin' 'em in my backyard. As Rockfish Man said... Keep the trap shallow.
I bait it with bread or crackers and make sure to keep to top of the trap just above the water. That way the minnows can't feed off the top of the trap and have to go inside instead.
It fills up really fast.

We use dry dog food in the traps in shallow water next to the shore line the oil in the food really attracts them and the traps fill up fast
try using white styrofoam for bait
I used 1/2 a bacon egg and chesse bisket from 7-11 and got a 1000 in 10 min's. and they were line up to get in..............
I have no idea why it worked, but that is what we used to use and the minnows came out sooo clean...
