    Default VAGA answered ny question

The subcommittee tabled the menhaden bills. As Delegate Cosgrove put it, the Legislature appears to be willing "to play chicken with the Feds". As well as with the jobs in Reedville (that they claim to want to protect), as well as the bait fisherman and the crabbers.

There is still a bill in the Senate. We'll see how that goes.

Don't forget the cast netters, as well. A moratorium would also prevent sport fishermen from harvesting menhaden for bait and chum purposes. Might even prohibit possession.

Of course, there will be no moratorium...

Probably not - as in the case of NJ when they threaten to shut the fishery down, then the legislators usually come around. Which allows them to say they fought the good fight and protect their political donations
