Have a friend coming into town aand wanted to beat the rush of the weekend and plan on flounder/croaker fishing in the bay. The weather channel website is calling for 4-5 foot in the ocean. Is the bay doable(sp?) in a hydrasport 24 foot with three teenage boys? Thanks in advance
A small craft advisory remains in effect until noon edt friday.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A small craft advisory means wind speeds of 18 to 33 knots and/or
waves 4 feet or greater over the chesapeake bay...are expected to
produce hazardous boating conditions to small craft.
Inexperienced mariners...especially those operating smaller
vessels...should avoid navigating in these conditions.
Mariners should pay close attention to the marine forecast...and
consider wind and sea conditions in planning.
FRI
N WINDS 15 TO 20 KT...DIMINISHING TO 10 TO 15 KT IN THE
AFTERNOON. WAVES 3 TO 4 FT...SUBSIDING TO 2 TO 3 FT. A CHANCE OF
SHOWERS IN THE MORNING...THEN A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS IN THE
AFTERNOON.
is it doable, yes, smart, i'd say no, it probably wouldn't be bad on the south side of kiptopeke though, just make the drive over and stay close to land, if you want to just catch croaker, stay inside willoughby bay, however you spell it
