I am looking for people that have had experiences, good or bad, with an 1977 Cobia
C22CC Gulf-Stream built by Cobia Boats.

This one now has a new transom built by The Custom Fiberglass Co of Newport News. The hull is now rock solid every were. It will have brand new power 200hp Yamaha 4 stroke and 1998 25 hp Johnson kicker.

Would you consider this to be a safe boat to take fishing trips to the CBBT and the lower Chesapeake Bay most days, or even off shore of VB on fair days winds 5 to 10 knots seas 3' to 4'?
What restrictions do you think this hull would have when fishing inshore and off shore?
I do not want to push this boat past it's safety limits. I am sure my commend sence will
help keep me safe. But knowing the hulls limits would be a huge plus for my safety.
The Manufacture of this hull has very little info on their site for this hull.

How would you say it rides compared to other 22 foot deep V boats?

It measures 22.08 feet long and 96 inches wide at the widest point.
weighs approximately 2550 pounds with an empty fuel tank and without any gear or passengers.

The maximum outboard motor horsepower is listed at 260 hp.

I like older boats
1. For the low cost of the hull.
2. They are usually built stronger than most new hulls.
by using an older hull and re-powering it with a new outboard I can get more boat for the money I have to spend.
I know I could get a larger used boat and motor for the cost of the new 200 hp Yamaha, but I like knowing what my motor has been through and like not having to pay for motor repair for the fist few years.

Any advice you can share with me about this boat will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your advice John B. Fishless
