I thought I'd share a pic of what I managed to snag off of one of the Rt. 50 bridge pilings a couple of weeks ago. Forget for a moment about the fact that a key structural support so easily yielded to my 10# line, and check out all of the cool creatures covering it.
The River is far from dead, and it's not just Stripers, Perch and Pickerel, either. When JP and I pulled oyster cages the following week, you would not believe the life that had flowed into the hanging "reefs" right in Aisquith Cove.....gobies, blennies, eels, impressive looking worms with legs, etc. I like seeing some good news on occassion.

Great to see. Only trouble - not much below 20 feet is still alive due to low O2 levels.
Let's keep our fingers crossed that the new reef plus the area between the bridges holds up.
