I had a court date this morning (how about a $500 parking ticket while dropping my son off at Annapolis High School!) so by the time I was out of Court, going to work made no sense. I ran up to the BB where there were tons of birds working in three groups west, middle, and east. No topwater blitzes so I tried jigging in 35 to 48' of water, drifting through the birds. Finally.......after hours of trial and error, a heavy metal proved to be the paydirt. I caught several off the bottom and accidentally released a keeper boatside, ouch! I fished this area mid afternoon with one other boat from Eastport. A cool old wooden boat with a tiller in the cockpit. They were catching the same stuff, nothing much for size but great fishing conditions........Northwest breeze and a ripping ebb tide made for great drifts>

At 1530, I picked up a buddy in Lake Olgelton and headed for his home waters, Tolly Point. Same basic technique, we jigged under the birds between Tolly and Thomas and limited out before sunset with numerous fish released. These fish looked healthy and had other ideas about coming aboard! I'm kinda in shock having thought that this technique was just too nuanced.....now it's starting to click. Getting the bait to the bottom of the Bay seemed like the key this afternoon! Catching stripers on light tackle is a blast! Try and get out during the week in November. It's priceless!
