The sixth anual Catchin' for KIDS Rockfish Tournament in Virginia Beach is Dec 11-13 this year. This is one of the best, if not the best, tournaments during striper season. This tournament is a great value and supports a great cause. ALL PROCEEDS go to buy Christmas gifts for underprivledged kids in the Tidewater area.

Fishing starts on Friday night, with two weigh-ins on Saturday and two more on Sunday. FREE food everyday, along with great raffles and silent auctions.

We are a 100% pay out tournament. Last year we gave away over $$$$$14,000$$$$$ in cash and prizes. And yes, there is an early entry prize for all entries recived before November 30th.

Entry forms can be picked up at Oceans East 2 Tackle Shop, or you can download them at www.CatchinForKids.org.

The www.CatchinForKids.org website is pretty good. Lots of pictures of past tournaments, including not just the winners and losers, but the cookouts, the standing around admiring the fish and telling lies, and best of all, the kids. The kids have the most fun, catch some pretty outstanding fish, and definitely make the best photo subjects.

Also on the website you can download the entry form and also the rules, you can see lists of past winners, you can see the main sponsors, and you can also see winners and photos from past Anglers Club Challenge Tournaments.

Compared to some of the big-buck tournaments and their cutthroat competition, the Catchin' for Kids tournament emphasizes what most of us who don't win will remember best--fun, comaraderie, great food, enjoying the fishing, ... and the prize money, while not huge, isn't chicken feed--it has commas in it.
