    Default Shrimp/seafood

Fellas, just wanted to give you guys a heads up on a place to get really good shrimp and other seafood at really great prices. It's a haul for most of you, but might be worth it if you're buying in bulk. The name of the place is Johnnies and it's North of Hagerstown, just South of Chambersburg right on RT 11. Johnnies Inc is the website and click on "specials" to see the deals.
The shrimp are USA wild caught brown gulfs, but the crab meat is foreign. I just stick to the shrimp most of the time. Wives/GF's or significant others that are into any type of cooking will love this place as well. And no, I have absolutely no affiliation with this joint other than being a frequent customer. Just got back from a run as a matter of fact.
Oh yea, if you decide to make the run and you come out 70, give me a ring and stop in for a cold 1. Myersville exit- easy off, easy on to 70.

    Jimmy,

I live in Jefferson MD, just a little southeast of you but not too far. I have shopped for years at the roadside stand off Rt 340 south of me just after crossing from MD into VA. They get fresh seafood out of Manteo NC each week and set up on Thur-Sunday. I have been dealing with them for many years and they have top notch seafood but they close soon for the winter.

They sell fresh shrimp in different sizes, fresh tuna, fresh scallops and lots of other goodies. I am very picky about seafood, I think they have some of the best product in the greater Fredneck area.

Steve, I know exactly where and who you're talking about, but I haven't been there in years, I will file this away in my brain for next year though. I know what you mean about being picky with seafood and that's why I mentioned that the crab meat from Johnnies is foreign, I won't but it. Check out those shrimp prices on the specials this week though, I guess because they buy and sell in such bulk, it keeps the prices so low. Once again- I am in no way, shape or form affiliated with this place.
Bay Prowler- I wish I was closer to you because i'd be having that last bushel of oysters that you have on the half shell tonight with my shrimp!! I hear they've really been doing well down Tangier way w/ the oysters this fall.

    Jimmy,

Thanks for the info, I will check them out sometime. I don't eat imported crabmeat either, in fact I generally don't buy much crabmeat because I much prefer to catch my own.

We need to meet sometime, maybe on the Pax with bushels of crabs on board! I just repowered my 17 Mako and replaced the entire fuel system and I am really looking forward to crabbing next summer. I think we are going to see much improved crabbing the next few years, time will tell.

Thanks for the info. My inlaws live in Chambersburg and we will be heading that way for Christmas so will have to stop by and check Johnnies out. Most of the time the inlaws buy their seafood at a place called the Butcher Shop, have you ever heard of it? It seems to be pretty good seafood from there.

Lance, I have heard of the Butcher Shop and I see their ads in the paper out here, but i've never been there. I highly recommend Johnnies though, check it out and let me know what you think.
