buy some reel grease, remove the handle and remove the sideplate screws. open it up and lube the shaft and gears, you will see old dried out lube wherever it needs lube. take the spool off and lube the shaft under the spool also.
Ive got a Shimano Stradic 2500 that has taken a few dunks in the saltwater. I did the usual maintainance by rinsing with freshwater and oiling certain parts with the oil that came with the reel. It reels fine but not smooth, almost like a scratchy reel. I figure it needs some type of grease.
Does anyone any websites that would show me where to place the grease on the reel and what parts need it?
And what kind of grease would work and where can I find it?
Thanks,
Cashin

Some oil or grease may help, but is soounds like it needs a complete clean and lube. It may even need a bearing replaced. Give me a call if you have any questions. I do reel repairs and will be glad to answer any questions you may have...443-848-1074
