    Default 1 Boss Down

Hunted Sat. @ our club in Halifax, NC without any luck bc the weather had them quiet in the am & the wind picked up later in the day. It was perfect yest. & I found one strutting in a field late in the afternoon w/ a few jakes.

Worked like a charm, set up early on the field +- 75 yrds. from where I thought he was roosting & put out a jake decoy & 2 hens. He was gobbling hard on the roost & out 1st came 3 jakes running over to check out the decoys. They were doing circles around the decoys & I heard him coming. He was in full strut walking through the woods 25 yrds. away w/ 2 hens. Just after I saw him .... he sprinted out to the decoys as well. He started strutting around the jake decoy & I was looking to see if there was another gobbler coming but, just then one of the jakes came over to check me out. He got within 5 ft. & made me. The gobbler walked back in the woods where he came out which gave me a clean 20 yrd. shot. 6:45am

Never had to touch the call, its nice when a plan comes together.

Work was calling so I didn't have time to wait for the other guys & get a better photo.

Wow Ranger!!! Was that a compliment?[excited]
I saw you had posted to the thread and I was expecting some stupid comment about how easy it is or how stupid everyone is, but you surprised me. Baby steps, baby steps...[grin]
Congrats to you, as well as the happy hunter.[angel]

That was a real Congrats. Even I know how slick those birds can be. I like to make fun of turkey hunting, hoping that my brother-in-law will see it. He is EAT SLAM UP WITH IT! And, I am not man enough to take on the ticks and skeeters.

I have been busted by them ugly birds a lot while bowhunting.

Thats a great bird.....Congrats. Good to see the birds are cooperating this year. Last year was a wash for me. Going on a 3 day weekend this weekend up around Lynchburg, VA. Do some gobbler huntin, trout fishin, and smallie fishin. Thank goodness they called of the rain.
