I am looking for a place to go dove hunting, anything in the VB/ chesapeake area, or the eastern shore. I have not seen any corn cut and am concerned that there wont be any in time for opening day. I have hundreds of acres to hunt around my farm in NC and I know that none of that will be cut. thanks in advance for any help
I feel your pain. I am in the same boat. I am in Richmond, and have no were to go (no where that is decent). I don't mind paying to hunt, assuming a snowballs chance at a good hunt. I tried a $100 hunt/pig roast up on the James river two years ago, that was an expensive lunch.
Called Southhampton outfitters and left 3 messages. They have a similar setup for $50. They have not returned my call.
Wish someone had a place for a Tidalfish get-together. I would pay my part.
Start looking in the Virginian pilot this week, sometimes they advertise there for pay fields, If you take a ride down to Pungo, in the past few years they have signs for dove fields on the corner of Gum bridge and Princess anne, and also near the post office in Pungo, last I checked they are 25 bucks for 3 day hunt or soething like that, no corn cut that I have seen down there yet though. Good luck
I was down there yestersay and didnt see anything. I have seen more doves than I have for the past couple years. I really hope there is something available. I have thousands of acres of land to hunt on the northern neck but dont want to drive up there and find no cut corn.
I have looked there before, and it has never looked good. it looks very small, but I dont know if there is another part. I have hunted the davis place in pungo for years, but I heard the ole man died last year, and I dont know if they will be doing that anymore. I really hope something better comes along.
I saw a sign yesterday off Head of River rd in Chesapeake that advertised $25.00. They'll start cutting the fields this week. Often cutting during the hunt. I usually hunt a farm on Land O Promise rd. but so far, the corns still up.
