Default Crabbing off a trophy boat

Anyone crabbing of a 19' trophy boat?

I'm looking at going com this year, so I'm re-evaluating my gear.

Currently I have a great setup, and always have a successfully trip.

With going com, i'm concerned I will not be able to run my currenty rig.

I'm looking at a few different options, 1. is keeping what I got and giving it a go.

    2. Is buying a 19' trophy boat, it will have more floor space, can be used for fishing as well, and as family boat. Also a little safer for my crabbing partner.

    3. Is going full on comm, with a workboat. Down fall for this is fuel price? Slip rental, the ability that I will mostly have to stay in one area through out the year. (normally I move up the bay as the summer goes on)

    Any thoughts?

Keep your current boat for fishing, etc.

Convert an older boat exclusively for crabbing and trailer it to the most productive areas.

    Thanks polecat!

Another question I have is about licensing.

I have been looking for a LCC and have a few on the hook.

But there are a few boats and/or businesses that are offering the TFL with the boat.

I can't seem to find what crabbing the TFL allows me to do.

    Any input?

Lol, that is one of the boat of interest.

It has been listed a few times, I have not looked at it in person yet.

Depend on the tfl. A LCC is a TFL. Have you ever commercially fished?

Do you wanna pot or line? If you wanna pot how many? How often? So if you want to go comm you have to decide how far you want to go. That will decide the boat.

Line to start with, maybe a few pots here and there.

License would be 50 pots, if I went that route.
