Ilander with Select Bally...
Blue/Black Ilander Flasher is a good bet but I've seen them eat pretty much any color. My biggest came on an Orange/Black Ilander.
Drone spoon wll definitely catch them...
Since the wahoo are starting to show up off oc, i wanted to ask some questions on favorite wahoo lure, how you rig it, and how you run it.
i rigged a red and black "heavy" islander on 6' thin single strand wire last night that i could run in the way back position. i also rigged for a naked hoo on 6' wire that i could run off my down rigger.
i hear that the good-ole drone is tough to beat too, but all i ever caught on it was bluefish.
anyone run a "wahoo wacker" or similar with success?

Drone spoons are a standby because you can also get tuna on them often. One of my favorites is a big heavy my lure in silver and black with a horse hoo. All of my wahoo rigs are rigged on wire. I prefer red, black, purple, and orange. If it has flash and it moves fast a wahoo will eat it. Billy Baits make wahoo lures, big heavy heads with plenty of flash in the skirts
The pink drone, a red and black islander with a med or select on the planer or if all else fails a trembler in dolphin color or purple ran off the chair back a ways

Big profile, very heavy, pulled from a planer on #9 piano wire.
taken a many on that setup. This is on brown wire and 1 skirt but the double and triple skirts catch more.

Do you need the large tuna setups to catch these fish, or can I get away with lighter tackle? I'm slowly building my spread and I would like to avoid buying another rod and reel at the moment. Will they spool a conventional reel setup for cobia, large drum, etc?

Horse ballyhoo on wire double hook rigged or a split tail mullet double hook rigged on wire, either on the planer rod. Buy 'em from Baitmasters.
All of the above, but here's a wahoo fact. If you spend $7.00 on the pretiest spanish you can find and stitch it up with TLC and put it out for a blue marlin bait a wahoo will pick it out of the rest of your spread and destroy it.
