Thumbs up Severn river fishing report july 29 2010

I went fishing yesterday with a new friend name Alen on the Severn River at round bay and tide was mid way coming in at 5am.the wind was 5 to 10 so we started out of Smith's Marina and went to the outside of long point were we started working the grass beds sence it was early and we still had a full moon last night. All the crabs were running on the top of the water which made it great fishing for white perch. We were using my feather spinner baits and catching just about one per cast and the fish were 8" to 10" and when we started working the piers the stripers were trying to eat them,ya its time to start live line under the piers because some of the stripers I have seen were 30"size.We left long point and went across the river just before eagle nest point were there is a great grass bed shore line and bigger perch were there. We were only there for a short time because the weather started to look bad and I wish we had stayed because the bite was on,keeper fish every cast 9" and up.So we left and came back across the river to the inside of long point were we caught more big perch and by 1:00pm we were off the water just in time.We caught well over 200 white perch but my friend Alen only took home 82 white perch and all the others we let go.So if you plan to go fishing good luck and god bless our troops................woody

Thanks for the report. Wow. Nice work. And thanks for confirming my suspicion that the Severn has nice rockfish in the summer. I just haven't been skilled enough to get into them until they start getting more active in the fall.

Fished with a lure Woody makes. Caught nice perch outside of Magothy heading north a little on the shoreline. WOW, its nice to catch perch without baiting a hook all the time. Just cast and reel in slowly. Thanks Woody for making perching fun.

Still think you should add a third eye to the lure.
