In hopes of buffing up their reputation in the community, Omega Protein is cosponsoring a fundraiser for the Virginia Living Museum in Newport News on June 4. As a long term supporter of VLM, I very much appreciate Omega's participation, but honestly, when was the last time anyone remembers seeing Omega or any of their predessors contribute to any community effort outside the Northern Neck?

when people do good things, we can either accept it, or try to rip it apart.

Omega also donated about $10K to the Elizabeth River Project a year or two ago. Big photo op for them.

WEll I intendd to rip it apart. What has Omega done for the overall health and furture of the bay.
They want more and more and few thousand dollars is chump change for them in the overall picture.
Sorry, but Omega is bad for the future of the bay and it's fisheries.

Omega has taken more out of the bay than they can ever hope to put back with a fundraiser for VLM, I'll rip it apart.

VLM aside, curious what Omega's tonnage was from the bay area and their overall revenues.

Saw a post the other day that stated that everything they caught last year was from the bay. They never left. (see if I can find it)

Probably the cost of fuel, and it certainly isn't any better now.

They can only fish Virginia and North Carolina waters on the East Coast so that pretty much leaves the Bay for most of their harvest.

They know that they need to fund a museum so that people can remember what the Baywas like when it was a viable ecosystem.
