Hi everyone. I have a Boston Whaler 190 Outrage(19') center console. I have been reading this forum for few months and I think the projects you guys undertake are really impressive. I'm planning to raise my front casting deck so I can add a much needed windlass because of a back problem I have. I'm thinking of making the structure out of welded 1/16" boxed stainless steel and making the decking out of something strong.
I used to do autobody work many years ago, have arc welded, gas welded, and spot welded before. I still have my gas torches/tanks and a portable Spot Welder. I've never welded stainless steel before and need some recommendations given what I want to do and what I have to work with or might need to get.
What do I need to have to weld stainless steel? What should I make the decking out of, and any other suggestions? I'm not hung up on using stainless for the structure.
Thanks for any help you can provide. All recommendations appreciated.
Thanks,
Paul
