Default OffShore with Ken Lahr of ReelDragginTackle and the Canyon Draggin Marlin and Mahi

My Father, My Brother and Me and the Captain Ken Lahr took the Canyon Draggin offshore to the Washington Canyon on August 27, 2010 for a great day. Ken showed us some of Reel Draggin" Tackles stuff and it was an incredible trip. 3 to 4 footers on the way out took the stuffing right outta me, but even laying down once we got out there I was right beside the rod that went off first. Barely able to hold the rod and my arms turned to jello within moments. ITS A MARLIN !!! Who yelled it or why i have no idea because I was in all kinds of turmoil. Tapping a keyboard does not a fisherman make. I know that within the first minute I was already asking for someone else to take the rod as I could barely hold it, shouts of LOOK AT THAT AS THE MARLIN LEAPED HIGH AND TAIL WALKED WERE RINGING IN MY EARS. Sheesh, just like the interstate, everyone gawking at the show and ignoring the poor little guy trying not to fly out the boat cause he cant hold the rod as this monster requires everything i have in me just to keep the rod in my hands.
REEL REEL REEL HE IS TRYING TO THROW THE HOOK they shout, duh, hey all i can do is keep the rod in my hand and my sorry butt in the boat ?? But they dont seem to care that the energy it takes to hold on and reel this fish is akin to pulling my truck down the interstate if it runs out of gas. I dont know how long it took, and apparently I got the marlin pretty close to the boat before my brother FINALLY took the rod from my hands. I thought I was going to collapse. Captain Ken Lahr got the fish to the side of the boat and we got a great little movie of it by the boat. He was a HUGE MARLIN. Trust me I know, I reeled that great fish most of the way in. That was awesome and we were only about a half hour or so into the trip.
We trolled some more with Reel Draggin Tackle gear and hooked up to another Marlin that did a spectacular jump that since my brother was on the rod I got to see, but alas, he threw the hook. Guess my brother doesn't know what REEL REEL REEL means. So funny. Trolled a good bit more but couldnt hook up with anything else so we tried the lobster balls.
WOW. The Mahi were there and we had somethign like 2 hours of nonstop action. They pulled and fought like crazy and we had a whale of a time pulling them in. We kept 13 really nice eating ones and all brought home a lot of great eating. WHAT A TRIP !!!
TONS OF THANKS TO CAPTAIN KEN LAHR. We will be out with him again, he was great.
Gonna try and post some pics.

WOW, SUCH A TRIP ON THE OCEAN AND OUT TO THE WASHINGTON CANYON !!!

My arms get all jello like just thinking about it. Thank you Ken, it was a trip of a lifetime for me and dad and adam. They may be more experienced but they were so like little kids on the trip. In the original post you will see a Mahi we caught trolling that I forgot about with one of Reel Draggin Tackles Lures hanging from his jaws. If you get the opportunity to go out with Capt. Lahr you will know right away you are with family, its just that kind of trip. Good Fishing to All !!!
