    Default September Full Moon Overnighter

Last I looked, September 23rd is a full moon. Anyone out there planning an overnighter around that time? Hurricane Igor not withstanding, I was planning on doing a trip between Tuesday and Friday of next week. Does anyone have any good suggestions? The tuna bite for me anyway has been non-existant all year. Lots of dolphin, tiles and marlin with a Hoo or two thrown in but no tuna and I haven't heard of anyone from the OC area having any consistant catches.

From the reports I've seen this year, it sounds like the guys up north (NJ) have done Ok on tuna. It is worth running to the Spencer or Lindy? Looking for some advice.

    Thanks Roy

Roy: Not right now but when you plan to go later in Sept the Lindy or Spencer may be red hot but the Baltimore or Poormans might be also with all the cold water inshore now. Everything is chaning real quick and the conditions may lead to better tuna fishing down off MD or VA real soon but usually it starts up in the Lindy or Carteret first and moves south.

Capt John: Thanks for the reply. I hope it starts going off sometime soon. It seems like Igor may have something to say about conditions if it get close to us. I always read the Cannon Runner reports and they seem to be doing well in the Hudson in the last week or so. Hopefully that will start moving my way soon. Thanks again for the reply. Good fishing to you and catch em up.

Just my humble experience with many overnighters under my belt. It is far more important to overnight in an area over good water/structure with bait present than trying to time it with a full moon. Being out there during a full moon is cool for sure but if have a weather window and see good water...don't wait for the moon to be full. Odds are the weather may not be good during the actual full moon anyways. I'll be looking for a window after Igor passes through.

Thanks Mike. You are right. Good water and structure are the key. I too am looking for a weather window after Igor. I run out of OC and the boat name is Out-rea-geous. Maybe I'll see you out there.
