    Default Whites and dredges

How many of you guys have been pulling dredges, either dead bait or artificial this season in your spreads? I know it sometimes gets their attention but I wanna see if they've been helping with the bite. Got a trip saturday trying to decide if i want to pull the hoo dredge.

    Gaff ' Em,
We are looking at SatudaY & Sunday as well and by the looks of it, we are going to be fishing with IGOR! Check the weather.

Can't hurt. We pulled a dredge last week along with daisy chains from the riggers. Saw them on the 'chains but nothing definite on the dredge. We think that they may see the dredge and then hone in on the 'chains or flat line baits.

Pull at least one dredge!! We always pull two double dredges unless the bite is hot, then just one. artificail is good, all natural or half and half is better. You wont see alot to the dredge but it brings them in the spread.

Yeah offshore aint looking pretty for saturday. 8-13ft waves do not sound too awful fun. We usually try to run a dredge, will bring tuna up sometimes too. But as the one and only mate, when you get a few mahi or tuna hooked up at the same time, trying to get that dredge out of the way is no easy feat.

i run mine all the time now, even inshore where the chance for bills is slim. we had a day inshore with zero bites till noon, i put the dredge over, and we started hooking up. coinicidence? likely so, but i dont see a downside other than having to pull it in sometimes when a fish is being a pain. i run mine off my downrigger. easy in, easy out.

Having a ball of bait on your transom surely will intice more fish to attack your spread. If you simply have 6-8 baits in the water, its a little harder to convince the school its worth the effort expended. Ive been using custom made / designed dredges successfully for many yrs, and now see very simular models at local tackel shelves. Birds and daisy chains work equally as well, as the main intent is to fool the fish into thinking it is an easy meal.

One dredge that will never be pulled from my boat again is the strip teaser, after 6-8 trips and O fish with it in water, it is not allowed any where near my boat. Although many swear by them with high success, I do NOT.

Run the dredge off the downrigger & it's no problem to get out of the water. Strip-teaser dredges work just fine.

Yeah we try to run them but my options on how to are limited. Its either I run it off 400lb on the cleat through the scupper or I try and run it off the outriggers. Down riggers do make it easy but we dont have room for them on the boat.
