Foodsaver. Just make sure the juice from the crab meat doesn't seal the bag before all of the air is out. You can either put it in the frige or freezer to dry it out some. Tastes just like it came out of the steamer 6 mo later.
What is the best way to freeze crab meat without preparing it before hand ??? I am open to any and all suggestions. Thanks.....Dean

The best way to freeze anything is is a vacuum sealed bag. The air is what destroys the stored product..........Gary
Every rose has it's thorns.
first freeze it in a container. when frozen , renove it from the container & vacuum seal it.
We spread the crab meat on a cookie sheet and then freeze it. When frozen we remove the cookie sheet and place the frozen meat in a vac bag and refreeze again. You won't lose any juice. This way if you only want a small portion it is easy to break loose from the frozen pack.
Anyone ever freeze in milk first?
I've had decent success freezing in ziplocks. I do all I can to get all the air out first. The meat tastes OK for crabcakes, but not anything like fresh picked. I need to invest in a vaccume sealer.
