Spot trap

Help if anyone can, have myself a mighty fine spot/eel trap however it stays fishless. Does catch a few crabs that once in you can not get out. Have tried dogfood, crab canned clams, location maybe but can catch on hooks in same area, any suggestions really appreciated. LITTLE River

I use ground menhaden, or peanut bunker from my throw net that I mash. If they're in the location, they'll find their way in. I've been told to set in the morning and remove prior to dark because eels will keep others from venturing in.
