Default Trying to Reach Thomas Wine

    Thomas,

I tried to send you a PM but for some reason TF wouldn't let me. I've got a couple of questions for you about your December trips on the Potomac. Could you email me? It's kmdickinson@att.net.

    Greatly appreciate it.

    Keith

Are you kiddin me? Who can forget reading reports like that!! I don't usually sleep for 3 days after reading them. I was just curious as to what a good setup is. Do you set your eels under bobbers or are you on bottom? I'd never ask you to give up your spot but here's what I'm planning on doing. Do you think it sounds good? I was planning on launching on the MD side of the Potomac in the late afternoon/evening hours and anchoring along the channel edges. I don't have a radar so I don't really want to drift after dark if I can help it. The area is Piney Point which is across the river and due east of Cole's Point. (I'm not restricted to that area..I can fish the stretch anywhere between the 301 bridge and Pt Lookout. I'd probably fish 4 or 5 rods with 2 on bottom and the others under bobbers and varied depths from 5 to 20 feet. Any opinions on my setup or where I'm hunting would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

It's took me many years of trial & error and very much respect you for not askin a exact location so for that here are some hints.Fish the channel edges straight on the bottom,no more than 11/2 to 2 ounce egg sinker- barrel swivel-2ft mono leader-4-0 hook.Deffinitely Very good location where your going.Good fish finder HELPS.DRESS WARM,ALLWAYS have a backup plan (the what if i break down in the middle of the night,no boats around,20 to 30 degrees out side... if not colder...Berrrr.. Guess you got the point) And dont try to find me (Just Jokin) . hook your eel about 3in from the tail in his back so he can swim in the fishes mouth.80lb leaders where getting broke last year with the drags set right, may have to upgrade this year! Hope this helps & GOOD LUCK! Lookin for a state record one of these years!!!

Many thanks for the tips/hints. I was mainly wanting to learn how the lines are set and how the baits are rigged and you gave me a treasure chest of info. Next time I'm in your part of VA, I'll drop you off a case of your choice!

Hope to be able to give you a good report.

Take care, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
