I know it's off topic, but what would be the closest area to go from here to catch a tuna. I am up on the rock and other local fish, was just wondering if I could try for a tuna one day sometime soon?

Post on the Virginia Anglers board to get with the guys in Tidewater on the tuna run. You are looking at going offshore of Va and Hatteras for mid Atlantic blue fin tuna. Here is a link to a Salt Water Fisherman article on the topic of the winter action for bluefin in the mid atlantic

Closest tuna, 26 Mile Hill (lumps off of eastern shore Virginia). On a good weather day trailer over to Oyster Va and it is a short run.

I went to Hatteras last year out of Hatteras Inlet. We caught a bunch of dolphin about 20 miles offshore. We also went butterfly jigging off the Hatteras Tower. You want some great pullage try butterfly jigging for Amberjack. Pound for Pound this is the best fighting fish by far.
Have fun
Thanks for the ideas!
Hatteras without a doubt, a little farther if you are trailering, but well worth it. Watch the reports on the Mid-Atlantic offshore forum...Blackfin on the jig or troll, and the large bluefin are showing up in good numbers...the yellowfin have been hit or miss this winter.
