Default OT - Middle Peninsula Photo Ops

Planning on driving up around Robins Neck, Ware Neck, Mobjack, Mathews County area just to shoot some photos. I enjoy taking pictures of work boats, watermen, etc. I went to Guinea Neck in the Fall and got some good shots.

Since I am not familiar with the area, I was wondering if some of you might point me to some good marinas or areas where there are some cool Chesapeake Bay DeadRises - workboats - watermen, etc.

Here are some decent shots of a Hawk eating a rodent I took this week:

Try Winter Harbor. Haven't been there in a long time, but could still be good. Also, Gwynn's island.

Gwynn's has some great photo opps for watermen / workiing boats each morning going under the bridge and some boats at the old hotel on the edge of getting into the drink.

winter harbor (in mathews) would be better if you have a yak or something like that to paddle around a little - great scenery all around there, not that many working boats at the landing the last time i was there ... good for birds, marsh scenery, etc.

there's a little place called motorun (very tiny place) near there that has some cool abandoned properties around it and a small old marina. not far from new point comfort, which is another place you might want to check out! if you can get to the lighthouse on a calm day, you could probably shoot dozens of pictures of it alone (and the door was busted in the last time i was there, so you could probably explore inside there as well!)

winter harbor, motorun, and new point are all within like the same 15 mile or so radius, so you can easily hit all 3 in a few hours or less. cool old-school virginia tidewater areas!

Awesome shots of the hawk. How big is the zoom you are using? 400mm?
