    Default Looking for Spotlight Recommendations

I am looking to get some new remote control spotlights put on my boat and am leaning towards having them bow mounted on my rail. The one that I have on my top creates a major glare from the bow reflection and is worthless as far as actually lighting up the water so I can see what is in front of me

Anyone have any recommendations on ones that actually light up the area well when running in the dark?

My goal was max light for the most reasonable money. I wasn't paying $2,000 for a spotlight.

I also wanted a wired control for simplicity and hopefully the best reliability. I'm extremely pleased with the "Beamer" product line. They have wireless remote versions, but the one I got is:

... I also mounted mine on the front bow rail and you're correct - that is definitely the way to go for least glare. Pointed down, it's also a great help with pulling in the anchor at night.

    Thanks Scott

I am making my list of "get ready to fish" items as it will only be another month and the boat goes back in

Check out Magnalight's stryker HID remote spotlight. I bought the 50w HID one which is 7million candle power a few months ago. I got the wireless remote which has worked flawlessly numerous times. The HID(high intensity discharge) bulb is absoutely amazing. Zero glare at the source, looking up at the beam projected you can hardly see it but when it hits an object it sets it on fire. I can make channel markers glow from almost a mile away. Very "white" light like the new car headlights that blind you. Also the HID buld has much higher lummens at less wattage which is a measurement of acutal working beam than a halogen with alot less amp draw. Would highly recommend it! I believe the model is the 4200 stryker. you can find it @ Magnalight.com. I payed 513.00 for it. Worth every penny. If you don't go with that particular light definately go with a light with an HID bulb!

    Loop,

    Great,

Thanks. I was looking at the Stryker series and they look awesom. Nice to hear some actually feedback from people that have good lights. If I am going to drop $500.00 on one I want to make sure it works great

John, while I know you were asking about spotlights, I found an alternative to mounting hardware on the boat. I never liked the handheld spot lights becuase they tend to ruin your night vision with all the blowback. Rick Wineman brought this on my boat and fell in love with this little flashlight and it's power.

Tiablo A9 Tactical 256 Lumen LED Flashlight

combined with this this Tiablo Collimator 53 mm head

This flashlight is powerful plus with the collimator head focuses the light into a narrow beam that lights up dark pilings at night with no blowback. With a rechargable battery you get 3 hours of light. It's a little pricey for a flashlight but a great alternative if you don't want to mount any hardware.

    Mike,

I would love to be able to use a handheld as I did that on my CC 25ft. Now that I have a fully enclosed cabin it is almost impossible for me to hse a hand held. The main reason I need a spotlight at all is to get thru the back bay on my way to IRI so I can see the damn crab pots on my way out early AM. My radar wont pick those things up

Looks like a really cool flashlight though and I may look at it just to have on the boat when we are on overnighters while in the back of the boat
