Default Burnt some gas and enjoyed the bay to oursleves

Went out saturday for a couple hours for a pre-season shakedown. Everything seems to be working just fine. Looked around green can 3,5 and center channel marker at the mouth of the potomac. Spent a total of about 6 or 7 hours on the water this past weekend and only saw a couple of boats. Did'nt see much on the HD fishing machine either. Dropped some bottom baits over from 25 to 4' of water looking for some croaker nuggets. Did'nt find a single croaker. Just like it always happens, when we called to trip and started to pull in rod's BANG......... Got hooked up on a nice healthy looking striper. Yep While bottom fishing with shrimp for croaker we got a striper. Got the hook ot and let er go. Be back next weekend (weather permitting) to try again. Anyone else had any luck with the croaker in the potomac yet ? We usually have found some by now. Last year they were here and up shallow by this time. Good luck and see ya'll next week.

I have been fishing off my dock, near the mouth of the Coan for the last two weekends pretty much all day (and into the night if I forget about my rod like I did last saturday). I am trying to get rid of the squid that has been in my freezer all winter. I have not had a croaker bite yet. With the warm weather this week, maybe they will come on in!
