    Default boat paint

I am getting ready to paint the outside of a 21' SeaMark CC. I decided on Interlux perfection in flag blue for the outside above the water line and white for the bottom. My question is how much paint do I buy? It is expensive and I don't want to waist any. Help

i cannot comment on the perfection. However, i used this product for my seacraft project

    http://www.signaturefinish.com/index...gnature+Finish

Signature finish is a 2 part paint and you also add what they call "flow fluid". Flow fluid is basically a fancy name for thinner thats compatible with the paint. We had a quart of actual paint, a quart of catalyst (hardener), and i think a pint of flow fluid. We didn't use all the flow fluid but that quart of paint got me about 5 - 6 coats on my 23 seacraft from the rub rail down to the chine. There is no color chart on that website because he can mix any color of any paint made.

I am a very inexperienced painter and you can see my results in the thread in my signature. If you are planning to spray it, take my advice....the paint is VERY thin. Do not worry about covering. You want THIN even coats. We sprayed with an inexpensive HVLP gun with a 1.2 mm tip, pressure about 45 psi at the gun.

Sounds good where did you buy the paint from and how much was it? We painted our 25' Parker but I don't remember how much we bought and what the name of the paint was.

The only place you can buy it is to order from that website. If you call the number you will speak to Tom, the owner and he will take your order.

You just tell him what boat you are painting and he will calculate how much paint you need according to how many coats you want. Likewise, you just tell him you want awlgrip matterhorn white or interlux perfection flag blue and he can mix the color of any paint made.

Our paint was less than $300 but after tape, the spray gun, the bottom paint, and all the odds and ends i'd say the paint job was in the area of $600 - $650.
