Default Coles Point 1st week of July

A little late posting but I had no high speed internet until I got back to Leesburg after spending the week at Coles Point. We tried to fish every evening as long as the weather cooperated, mostly stayed on the VA side of the Potomac right out from Gardner Creek in the 14-16' depth range. We used mostly single bottom rigs with cut squid and some top/bottom rigs also with squid. Croaker were pretty much biting good each night with spot mixed in and the occasional white perch, on two different nights my wife caught a 3 1/2 lb catfish and my niece caught a 3 lb catfish, they were both excited like they had won the lottery or something haha I caught a Toadfish one evening that didnt put up any fight and was ugly as all hell. We were running a couple rods with some flounder rigs but had no luck on them, worst part is coming back to work after a week of fishing !

Thanks for the report. I have been hearing some encouraging news from this area.

Thanks for the great fishing report and nice pics, I was hoping to make it up there this past weekend but stuff happens.
I did notice small spot in my crab pots down in the Yeocomico which usually means they are up there pretty thick.
Never want to leave the RIVAH.

Good report for catching some nice fish. I live in Leesburg also but fish down from Coles Point from the Kinsale area buoy #9 on the Potomac. We have had good catches of croakers using shrimp and squid.

Basshby, I live in Exeter in Leesburg and keep my boat at my parents place on Gardner Creek at Coles Point.. I'm pretty familiar with Kinsale area but havent really spent much time there since the late 90's. I usually can only make it down a couple times a month if I'm lucky enough to get away from work, even one night stay is worth the 3 hour drive each way to fish one evening haha. If you ever need an extra set of hands or anything welded let me know I'd be more than glad to help.
