Surf Fishing in OC 77th Street Week of July 8,2011

Me and my daughters boyfriend fished the surf on 77th St. in OC in the evening on three separate occations.
We used bottom rigs with cut squid, bloodworms, and cut spot.
We caught a mix of small hardheads, spot, sandsharks and a mess of unidentified fish up to 14inches. Check out photo to help identify.

Fish was slender with the shape of a skinny sea trout with a barb under its mouth. The mouth was closer to the bottom of the fish. Maybe a ling cod?

Had a great time fishing the surf.

kingfish, very good eating-

I caught one that was at least 14". It would have been good.
