    Unhappy Send those smallies downriver!

How about chasing those fish downriver. Has anyone else noticed how stained the upper Potomac near RiverBend is? It's not runoff from heavy rains which we have had few of. Is Loudon County construction muddying up th river or is it something else? It's tough wading when the visability is only a foot.

I was on the river at little falls on Thursday. I think the low flow and high temps have stimulated an algae bloom that discolored the water.

Very nice post and pictures. Yes, that is a largemouth bass. Where on the eastern Shore do you live? I'm from the Shore, but now live in Venice FL. I'm with you, I would take a smallmouth over a largemouth any day. OR, a rockfish/striper. See Ya!

Way to go on the fishing and great report Next time I would suggest trying Brunswick campground about 10 mile east on rte 340. It is about 4 miles north of Landers and right on the river. They have great wading and loads of smallmouth. A short float trip from the bridge to the campground would be rewarding. Shoot me a pm and I can give you directions

It looks like a nice weekend of catching! HF has been one of my two favorite fishing areas for well over thirty years. There are so many great "spots" all over the river in that area.

I fish Point of Rocks and Whites Ferry. Every work day I cross the Potomac (at POR) and Monocacy (near the mouth) twice each day. Most of the stain you notice is definately coming from the Monocacy, not Loundon county.

I often check out Whites Ferry, it looks too stained then head to POR and it is much clearer. I'm almost certian the mouth of the Monocacy is down river from POR but I have been wrong before.
