    Default composite deck material?

Did a google search but didnt come up with anything that is recent. Thought I would post here. We are considering composite for our deck, Evergrain in particular. Any pros/cons?

There are many composites out there. Home Depot sells Trex and Veranda. Just make sure you get the kind that is fastened with clips that don't show. There is NO surface nailing. Some manufacturers say they they have screws that don't swell the composite BUT the displacement theory proves them wrong. I would not build a deck w/o composite as PT wood is high maintenance and doesn't last...........Gary

i had to re-do a 5 YO deck at my house because my contractor didnt flash between house and deck... rotten rim board.

it had/has composite decking, not sure of the brand, but its tounge and groove. its easy to install (and remove) and has held up fine. the only boards you face screw are the final ones at the end. here are some tips:

i would go as close as 12" on center with them too they are not nearly as rigid as wood! and make sure you crown your joists right!
