    Default Fishing License

    I have a personal VA and NC saltwater license and spearfish, sometimes off friends boats, and sometimes off dive charter boats. A friend advised me that you need a personal license and can't use the boats because you're catching the fish off the boat. Is this true...............do I need to let my buddies, that rely on the boat's blanket license, know?

    Might be worth a call to Va and NC game office to get a proper answer.

    Common sense would be the boat license covers scuba divers going off that boat.
    What could be more mundane than dying of old age or of natural causes when there is death by misadventure to be pursued ? Skip

    NC doesn't have a boat lic. and your friend is completely right. Once you step off the boat you need your own personal license in VA or NC.
