There are several different suppliers that sell trotline pullers. the one that is right for your dad depends on the type of use it will get.( occasional recreational use to daily commercial use. or somewhere in between) and what will be pulled with it.( straight line, snoods, clam bags, clam bags with pipe,)
some make and/or sell light duty winders, usually made with light duty motors & disk liners for sheaves, suitable for occasional use, usually recreational ,they may or may not work with snoods, or bags or pipe, average price $600-$800
some are designed to mount on the Left side of the boat & some are designed to mount on the right side of the boat.

then there is the heavy duty commercial ones, heavy stainless steel, heavy duty motors & gearboxes, made for everyday use & abuse, most will pull straight lines & snoods, not all of them will pull bags or pipe.
some are electric & some are hydraulic.

On the eastern shore , they are made or sold by Kastel bros. near St Mikes. or they are also sold by Western Auto In Grasonville
    average price is $1500- $1600
none of the estimates include the price of installation or wiring or batteries ( if electric) or pumps control & hoses (if hydraulic)

what you will need will depend on the Use & boat configuration & boat size & also your wallet size

Ask plenty of questions & ask for a demonstration before you buy.

once you get one you won't leave home without one. if my winder breaks, I'm not going!
