Default Any one want to dive Venice , Fla - fossils ?

Looking into taking my son to Venice , Fla ( near Tampa Bay ) to dive for fossil shark teeth.

South West airlines has some good deals if you are flexible with departure times. They allow two bags for free . Looking around $290.00 airfare pp round trip - with all the BS nickel / dime fees. The more popular times are more expensive.

Boat needs 4 divers min. to go. Looks fun - easy 25 to 35 feet with 4 to 9 feet of viz. Price for dives varies - but under $100.00 for 2 tanks. Cheaper if they do not run as far.

Might try in next few weeks - hoping to find few other divers to be sure boat will go out.

SKIP - FWIW, my father did one of these dives and was pretty disappointed. Poor Viz, lack of aquatic life, and generally boring diving. If you want to get your son hooked on diving, take him down to the Florida Keys. I have been diving for years and was just recently down in Islamorada in March. There is a diveshop down there that specializes in spearfishing and offer an introductory spearfishing "course" where you get your PADI "underwater hunter" cert in 2 dives. It was a great time and there's plenty to spear down there.
    Have fun.
