    Post Guides for bass rod

Hey guys I'm starting to build a casting bass rod and I was wondering what size guides to put on it. Also, any advice on spacing and how many to put on it. The blank is a 6'6 medium-heavy, fast action graphite blank made by MHX. Thanks.

The guide sizes are entirely up to you. You just need to use guides that are big enough to pass any terminations used. My normal guide setup would start with a 6mm and drop to a 3mm on the second guide on. A more conventional approach would be a 10 or 12 down to a 6mm. Spacing will be determined ideally buy a static load test, but a visit to the MHX website forum would get a company rep to give you a starting point.

The size and location of the guides is determined by the size/ height of the reel and action of the blank.

The term "good eatin size" is generally used by those that catch small fish.

When you bought the rod from Mud Hole they should had sent you a guide spacing list with your rod. If not you can go on there web site and get it. This will give you an idea on what the spacing should be, but like Clyde said, it’s determined by the size/ height of the reel and action of the blank.
