Default Rodanthe Oct 15-29: What's Biting?

Well, with the road projected to be re-opened, our family vacation seems to still be on. It was dicey for a while there.

We will be staying beach front in Rodanthe. I plan to fish the surf and local piers. What's biting? I haven't seen a ton of reports anywhere. Any tips? I'm not looking for anyone to burn a spot, but if you can key me into the current pattern that would be awesome!

    Thanks, Jeremy

You're lucky the road officialy opened today. Had to take the ferry. Was there for two weeks. Surf fished the point and Hatteras inlet , mainly bottom fishing with a drum rig and fresh finger mullet ,and casting lures. Caught fish everyday. Lots of blues 2 to 4 lbs, puppy drum, and rays. Other guys were catching small flounder in the surf and blues ,specks, and puppys in the sound. Find some fresh bait and check out the ramps. Also look for busting fish and cast sting silvers. The point is probably going to be a mad house ,now that the road is open ,and the drum are starting to show up. Anglers is having their big surf tournament the 15th and 16th. Over hundred (six man) teams. Good luck!! Fishing should be good!!

    Tight Lines !!

I am extremely lucky that the road opened yesterday. NCDOT did a great job of updating the public on their progress and I was following their updates daily. Had the road not opened and the evac orders for rodanthe been left in effect I would have lost all my payments for a 2 week rental in Rodanthe. I am thrilled that the area is open for business, and my family and I can go down there and stimulate the economy.

I am ready to put some fish on the beach.
