Clearing up a "foggy" FF screen?

I have an old Fish Finder that came with my boat, the screen is very "foggy" from age, salt, scratches, etc. making it hard to see in certain light conditions. Is there a way to clean / clear it up some? I've seen some headlight cover treatments but they weren't cheap, and I'm not sure they would work on this plastic cover on the FF.

Any thoughts are appreciated,

Check to see if the screen is plastic or glass. It may be glass with a protective and/or anti-glare coating. If glass, go to Salisbury Auto Glass and buy a bottle of glass cleaner that takes off water spots. Work the screen until clear. Then go on Ebay and buy a protective screen saver film that applys directly to the glass. Cost is about $15.00.

I had to do this with my Raymarine C120 unit, and it worked great. Hope this helps.

A thin smear of oil or Vaseline may do the trick to fill in the hazing/scratches. Wipe it off with a dry towel to leave almost nothing.

Vaseline will also brighten up faded decals, pinstripes, and colored gelcoats. If you ever rewax, it needs to be removed first with some kind of degreaser.

Well vaseline seems to have helped fill in the scratches on the plastic screen as suggested. I'll get a better look at it on the water Sunday if the storms blow over on Saturday like they say.

o/ jdlough, I've looked at the ramp in Nanticoke and thought about using it not sure if I'd have better luck going out there to roaring point or out of McReedy's Creek ramp and along the channels by fishing bay.

Novus 2 from Norva Plastics in Norfolk, Beware, it will take the antiglare off the screen. My Raymarine had a scratched antiglare screen, so I used Novus 2 to remove the rest of the antiglare. Looks good.
