Default Heads up - lot of deer crossing the roads

Looked like a killing field driving along I-97 towards Annapolis. I saw 8 dead deer in about 10 miles and had to watch traffic more then the shoulder.

Not much more exciting when trailering then to have 3-4 deer come across the road. Swerve to avoid them and trailer will try to jack knife - just to add to the fun.

The stretch of Rt. 4 heading to Solomons has a lot as well.

IMHO - worst is the road along the bay heading to Breezy Point. Some spots the road sits down in between the woods on either side.

Few years ago - a deer jumped across and was about windshield level to my truck. Missed by inches. That was scary enough but then two more went sailing behind the boat. Honestly thought one landed in the cockpit.

Tough to avoid them as often this time of year 4-5 does will dart out when chased by a buck.

The buck has one thing on his mind - seen them lower their heads and slam into a car.

Next few weeks will be prime time so keep eyes open - especially if no other vehicles are ahead of you.
What could be more mundane than dying of old age or of natural causes when there is death by misadventure to be pursued ? Skip

Very good point that everyone should pay attention to. I-70 between Frederick and Baltimore is littered with deer bodies or just plain big bloody splotches. Same for Rt15 north. Keep in mind when you see one deer run across the road that there will be more to follow within seconds.

Yeah, its been bad down here too, I see several driving down 5 or 301. Last week this young buck thought he might get busy with my 100 lb lab. He actually walked towards us when he noticed us, and came to about 30 ft and just stared, I've never seen that before.

The rut is in full swing boys. Cold wx and full moon has them moving the last few nights. Be careful. Came around a sharp turn the other night and had a huge 8 pt standing flat footed in the middle of the road. Locked them up and barely missed him. Big body too. Out near Point of Rocks, MD.
