I will be vacationing at Useppa Island in Florida in January and was wondering if anyone has fished there before and can recommend any guides.
Thanks,
Jim
Useppa? A guide? You must be one of the one percent. I've never used a guide in my 72 years and I catch plenty of fish. No boat either. I obviously can't recommend a guide but here are some ideas. It would help if you decide what fish you want to catch. I would guess you are interested in snook and redfish. Snook are iffy in Jan. Cold kills them and they don't eat when so stressed. If you are lucky it won't be too cold. A decent guide may be able to find you some redfish. In Jan. I target trout but they are more of an eating than sport fish. Grassbeds out of the channel around Cabbage key often produce trout. There is often good fishing for grouper and amberjack in Jan. but this involves a trip of more than 30 miles off the passes. There are blackfin tuna out there. Most guides fish inshore. To fish way out you need a charter boat. Good luck.
