James River Pipes & Pumps ??

Anyone know what's going on with the mile or more of pipes running along the bank from the Dutch Gap area downriver to some pumping barges and beyond?

If it's a dredging operation, it seems like a lot of work to relocate the sediment. At other locations it seems they just dump nearby using small barges.

Just thought someone on here might know the inside story.

collecting the river rock in the sediment they were further up river to around buoy 162 last month and dumped a bunch behind the buoy and messed up a good flat for awhile anyway but gotta have a shipping channel ....selling off some of the stone recoupes a little of the operating cost and provides the consumer with some nice stones for landscaping and aggregate concrete etc....
