Default Lowrance Structure Scan outboard interference

Installed an HDS-8 with SS last weekend and took it for test run this week. As others have found, amazing detail, the broad band sonar alone is worth the upgrade from my lcx-18c but with the SS it's unreal what you can see.

both transducers are installed on the starboard side, the SS is clearly showing some interference from the outboard when looking left. The left side of the left+right view shows feedback extending a bit down from the center line (see yellow box)

You can also see in the image above the bottom return on the left look isn't as smooth and clear as the right. This was more pronounced as we came back to the dock and I could see small potholes in the mud on the right but not as clear detail on the left, trimming the motor up a bit revealed the potholes on the left. Perhaps this is what I will need to do when scanning structure on the left....just trim up an inch or so to give the transducer a clear view.

Curious if others have encountered this as well.

Have seen this fixed two ways. One boater here on this board mounted the transducer to the bottom dead center rear on the hull.
That solved it for him but it's a bit of work.

What I did to solve the problem was to add a second Structure Scan transducer opposite the first one. The second transducer looks only to the port side of the boat. The original Structure Scan transducer looks to starboard and works for the down scan also. Lowrance sells a splitter cable just for this purpose. This was easy to install but it does cost for the second transducer and splitter cable.

Added other Structure Scan transducer just opposite this one.

Only screenshot I can fine using both transducers

Here is one just using the left transducer

Frank, welcome aboard the unofficial HDS lovers site !( no HB guys allowed unless they are respectful of our superiority !)

I have pretty much the same, but for me I lose a little detail up near the top which for the most part is acceptable for me.I assume you've tried the surface clutter filter settings ?

    Cob--wow, that's dedication !
Do you manually select one side or the other with a splitter /swt. ??

Your contrast setting is lower than what I use, yet you seem to almost be maxed out on contrast. You must have a hot transducer.
Yep, your setting are much lower than what I need to use. I usually run between 70 and 72
