    Default 5.7 Motor Replacement

I pulled my 5.7 VP out of my boat and had it checked. Bad news... Block cracked and the heads need to be replaced. The motor is 20 years old. I am looking for a motor to replace. Looking for advice on rebuilt, remanufactured, or brand new? Also ideas where to get the motor from?

Are you going to DIY or are you looking for a shop,,do you want a new complete engine or new base engine. or a used engine or a rebuilt or remanufactured engine,, whole engine, long block ,,short block??
if you are planning on keeping the boat,
my first choice & recomendation would be a new base engine with new manifolds & risers

Motor is at a local shop that's going to replace the block and do a complete rebuild. I was planning on same motor replacement just don't know allot about reman vs new vs rebuilt.

Well I just put a new 350 Mercruiser in my boat. Never did it before but it was very easy. For the couple dollars difference in price I went brand spanking new! I replaced a 1987, 260 hp with the very same thing only new. I bought it through Michigan Motorz.

1800runsnew.com has new base engines for a good price. I used them with good results. They have base engines and complete engines. Good luck
