Snowing here in Joppa! Light snow just enough to coat the car top and roof tops! Too bad the atmosphere was too dry because with the precipitation shield that was over us for 3 hours we would have probably got an inch or so? It just took to long to saturate the atmosphere

    Lily,
Just purchased the family new ski/snowboards. Is the weather forecast provided good for lower PA also. I would guess the temps would be 5-10 degree colder?

    Reeltor,

Wait another 2 weeks and conditions will be awesome anywhere around here. The cold is coming and its going to stay but not until we get past this 5-7 day blowtorch. I'm going to fire up my ice drill and get it ready. Should be fishing hard water in Joppatowne by months end???

They will be making alot of man-made snow. The natural snow gods are not going to be kind to us like they have been the last 2 years. We might see a couple small storms but a big noreaster is tough to get in a weak La Nina signal ( LILY will be looking for that one storm. Thats all it takes to make me happy a nice 18-20 inch powder snow). Our big snow storms will be back in the winters of 2012-2013 and 2013-2014

I don't get why so many people want cold, snow and ice. Give me 50 all winter and no snow.

I like the change of seasons. My dad was born in Winchester, VA. and grew up as a little boy in Romney, WVA. Most of his life has been lived in Edgewood, Maryland. My mother was born and raised in a small Vermont town right on the canada border called Derby Line. The customs are in town. I use to ride my bike when we would summer up there for 3-4 weeks in late July thru August across the border all of the time. My grandmother who is 90 still drives into Canada to go to church, hairdresser, shopping etc... We also used to go up for Xmas every other year. My parents live in Conowingo-Cecil County now just for 5 months out of the year and spend the other 7 in Vermont on Lake Willoughby.

I guess I have some Maryland blood and some Vermont blood and thats why I like a place with 4 seasons. If I had a choice I would go to Vermont instead of going south. I tried living there in my early 20's but never made it. Lasted 5 months. I bartended at night and worked @ Jay Peak Ski Resort during the day. There is no money to be made up there unless you have a trade, plumber, carpenter, roofer, logger, etc. When I retire I will do what my parents did to carry on the tradition. Live in MD part time and live in Vermont the rest? However, as much as I like winter it would be a tough decision?

If you dont like what the weather in Maryland offers MOVE-that simple.

The weather could always be worse....it could be pouring shad heads, for example.

That thought has been running through my mind for the past couple months (and on and off for a few years now). I am seriously considering pursuing a job on the Gulf Coast of Florida (somewhere in the Tampa Bay/Clearwater/Bradenton area) because I HATE cold weather!!! At the same time, I do enjoy the other three seasons that MD (although IMO fall is not nearly as good here as western PA) has to offer. I may apply to a couple school districts and see what happens. Would be a much cheaper cost of living, that's for damn sure!!

Let me know. I have family in Sarasota-Bradenton area. She is my cousin Tanya. I can call her and try to find you some connections for employment?

The snook and grouper fishing down there is on fire right now. I have not been down in a few years but use to get out of maryland for 5 days every Feb. to play golf and fish

    Let me know?

    Good Luck

I hope the folks wishing for snow get about 10 feet of it! About the time they get the first batch cleaned up, have another dump of a couple feet! All in their own driveway.!!! Me, I'll take open water to fish!

    Shellback CVA 59.

We wont have any snows like that this year. However, as cold as its going to get late Jan. into Feb. I would be worried about "OPEN WATER". There will be alot of hard water coming soon!!!
